Dale graduated from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in 1984. He was admitted as a member of the Law Society of Alberta in 1985 and, since that time, has practiced almost exclusively in the area of criminal law. His interest in criminal law has taken him to every level of court in Canada, including the Alberta Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Canada and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has defended cases in every province in Western Canada. As a law student, Dale was a member of Student Legal Services at the University of Alberta. This worthy organization provided volunteer law students the opportunity to assist needy litigants with their legal problems. Dale later became a director of the organization and, for the past decade, he has provided legal advice to current members of SLS. From his admission to the bar until the present time, Dale has been a member of the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association and for a number of years was a director of that organization. He is an editorial board member of the CTLA Newsletter and he remains a member of the Canadian Bar Association. He has taught several courses for the Legal Education Society of Alberta to law students seeking admission to the bar. For about a dozen years, Dale was a coach, organizer and fund-raiser for minor league hockey and baseball. He was a long time member of the Board of Directors for Our House, a not-for-profit alcohol residential treatment centre located in Edmonton. |
